As the year ends, we take a quick look at what has been accomplished this past year and we look dynamically into the new challenges and opportunities of 2018.
10/10 in Quality: The 2017 yearend marks the completion of 10 years of acknowledged quality in Event Management as accredited by the International Association of Professional Congress Organizers – IAPCO. Since becoming a full member of IAPCO in 2008, Erasmus continues to invest every day and every moment on sustaining and improving quality for its stakeholders. A big Thank You to our faithful clients who repeatedly trust their events in the hands of Erasmus, to the new ones who have joined us and are still joining in the course of the years, to our valued suppliers and to the devoted staff of Erasmus who keeps up the good work, always with a smile, at your service!
 “Keep on being as committed as you are!”: This was one of the statements we received from a client during the online client satisfaction survey which we conducted for the first time in 2017. When asked, 100% of respondents declared that they would recommend Erasmus to others and the most common words they used to describe the value of Erasmus were commitment, reliability, professionalism, response times, experience, accountability and smile. Our on-line survey was also addressed to potential clients, to measure awareness of our brand among the PCO sector. We were quite satisfied with the results and will aim even higher for next year! A lucky draw among those who completed the survey awarded Ms. Heidi Roijemans, from ESHRE, with a city break in Athens and Prof. Charalampos Gantes from the National Technical University of Athens with a relaxing weekend in the beautiful land of Pylos, in Greece. Congratulations to the winners!
We keep learning to add value to your events: Well-educated and trained staff is the cornerstone of a highly performing team. In 2017 there were plenty of educational initiatives for the Erasmus team members, among which the IAPCO EDGE Seminar in Athens and the IAPCO Quality Seminar in Dubai. Also, in the last week of December, members of the team are attending seminars on two hot issues: the new GDPR regulation for data protection and the new quality standard, ISO 9001:2015.
Erasmus invests on technology: The end of the year finds Erasmus in the final stages of set up and training of the new event management software that we will start using as of 2018. This is a two-fold investment: On the one hand, it will enhance and further facilitate the online experience of our delegates in registration, abstract submission and other bookings. On the other it is anticipated to boost the team’s performance thus resulting in an even faster service for our clients and maximization of options for the management of your event. |

September at Erasmus started with the Orthopaedic Oncology Society Meeting, IVINS 2017, at Costa Navarino, in beautiful Pylos and Athens. “Everything about the meeting was top notch”. The Greek Maritime Golf Challenge
Over 90 maritime community members gathered at Costa Navarino on September 23rd to combine amateur golf playing with networking in a relaxing ambience. Apart from the golfing competition and the prizes presented, the Greek Maritime Golf Challenge comprised a number of fundraising golf activities and donated a significant amount of money to the “Captain Vassilis and Carmen Konstantakopoulos" Foundation, a non-profit making institution that aims to make Messinia region a model for sustainable development. |

Graphene Week
The team of Erasmus was excited and honored to be part of this premier activity of the Graphene Flagship project, which was hosted in Athens for the first time. The Graphene Week, started on September 25th with a warm welcome in the fascinating Acropolis Museum and continued with full action in the meeting rooms, poster area and exhibition floor at the Divani Caravel through to September 29th. Graphene Week is an annual gathering for international leading experts on graphene and two-dimensional materials, creating Europe’s most influential conference. Organised by the Graphene Flagship, the conference is set to present the latest scientific results, outstanding networking activities, and innovative exhibition opportunities. The conference was opened by Konstantin Novoselov, Prof. of University of Manchester, Nobel Prize in Physics 2010. |

HELLASCO Congress
The end of September found Erasmus in Thessaloniki, organizing very successfully yet another non-medical event, the HELLASCO CONGRESS 2017 titled «The Consulting Sector in a changing world». The congress was very well attended with the presence of many supporters and the active participation of leading speakers in the field of consulting for technical and development projects and initiatives in Greece. |

PAAM London
Despite the challenging situation that London – among other big cities in the world –is facing with unfortunate terrorism events, the 2017 Pediatric Allergy and Asthma Meeting of EAACI in London, was the most well attended in its history and Erasmus is proud to have played part in this success. One of the highlights was the clinical village with 11 busy stations this year. |

London Road Show
Εrasmus participated in the official delegation of the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) Roadshow, its first stop being London. The Athens Roadshow, is a series of exclusive presentations, designed to showcase Athens as a destination and highlight the competitive advantages and the conference infrastructure of the city in a modern and lively way. It is powered by the city’s most important industry stakeholders and is reserved for senior associates of large Associations, representatives from MICE media, trade associations and core PCO’s. Travel Trade Athens
It was a busy day with consecutive B2B meetings and a great opportunity to interact with peers, potential clients and other stakeholders of the MICE sector with the aim of showcasing the great potential of Athens as a MICE destination. Our Business Development team proudly presented the services and advantages of selecting Erasmus as a local partner for effective solutions and “wow” events in Athens and all over Greece. |

13th Annual Congress of Dermatology and Venereology
This year the Greek dermatological community met in the charming city of Thessaloniki, from 2 to 5 November 2017, during the 13th Annual Congress of Dermatology and Venereology. The congress was a real success with increased participation, full meeting rooms and an enthusiastic welcome to the newly introduced practical workshops on topics such as Botox, fillers, dermo surgery, antiaging. |

The undisputed value of natural birth...
...was the topic discussed among obstetricians, gynecologists and midwives during the relevant 1-day conference organized on November 18th in Athens. The programme included interesting sessions addressed to the public, such as music during birth, exercise and pregnancy, breastfeeding during pregnancy, alternative birth methods, acupuncture and pregnancy and others. |

Once again this year, ERASMUS attended the Business Travel Professionals Forum on November 1st to keep tuned with all latest developments in the Greek hotels market, learn about new projects and plans and enhance business bonds and cooperation opportunities. By keeping abreast of what is new in hotels and meeting facilities we can ensure that only the best options are included in our proposals to our clients. |

ICCA Congress
Τhe International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) is the global community and knowledge hub for the international association meetings industry and Erasmus has participated in the 2017 annual world congress, materialized in Prague. It was a rewarding experience including educational activities on the latest meetings industry trends and networking with the best in the field. Our team returned full of new ideas and potential partnerships. |

IBTM & Edge Seminar
The end of November found us in the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, at the IBTM World Meetings Leadership Summit. Finalists in the IAPCO Driving Excellence Collaboration Award, we were presented with the prestigious “Certification of Best Practice” of IAPCO for our collaboration with two competing PCOs, Afea and Era in jointly bidding for and successfully organizing the IAPCO Edge Athens seminar in January 2017.

Year ends with a new appointment
In early December 2017 the CEO and team of Erasmus traveled for one day to Zurich, at the headquarters of EAACI, for the debriefing meeting of PAAM 2017. Despite the very early morning wake up and intensive meetings while in Zurich, all the stress and tiredness of a long day flew away en route back to Athens amidst the cheerful news that Erasmus has been appointed as the PCO for PAAM 2019 in Florence! The whole team is delighted with this appointment, proud to have gained continued trust from EAACI and committed to delivering best in class services for the pediatric allergy and asthma community once again, since 2013, when Erasmus organized for the first time a PAAM meeting in Athens. |

Treasures of Greek Tourism Award
Treasures of Greek Tourism 2017, an event dedicated to the Excellence of Greek companies operating in the field of tourism, was held with great success, on December 7th, in Athens. Erasmus SA was among the award-winning companies and received the prize for the IAPCO Edge project, that promoted Greece as a congress destination, with the collaboration of two other major PCO companies, creating the Athens Team. Three competing companies – Erasmus, Afea and Era Ltd – joined forces and proved that fair play brings success in all fields. |
